Mare Parker-O'Toole (Consultant for Information Technology ) joined NELINET in August of 2008. She is an evangelist for open source technology for extending resources. She has been active in assisting librarians and other organizations in making the transition to new technologies since 1988. With experience in Public, Academic and Special Libraries she has been active in promoting universal design as a method to extend existing resources and develop new resources to serve all patrons. She has been working with libraries for years to assist them in providing services to patrons with disabilities and other users with different needs. She was the Training and Information Coordinator for the Massachusetts Assistive Technology Partnership Center, a federally funded project, training organizations and individuals in the innovative use of technology to assist people with disabilities. She also served on State Advisory Council on Libraries (SACL), advising on assistive technology in Massachusetts libraries. Parker-O'Toole holds a Master's degree in Library and Information Science from Simmons College and a BFA in Sculpture from Massachusetts College of Art.
