OCLC Statistics and Reports

OCLC usage statistics is the place to go to get your usage statistics for:

  • FirstSearch
  • WorldCat.org
  • Connexion (including Local Holdings Maintenance statistics and statistics by authorization number and interface)
  • Resource Sharing (including IFM reports)
  • Online Cataloging
  • COUNTER
  • Digital Collections

Log in with your OCLC authorization number, then click on the tab for the service for which you want usage statistics. Click on the name of the statistical report that you want to view statistics.

You can view cataloging statistics for your entire institution or by individual authorization number. If you want to track statistics for a project or type of material, you can do so by only using an authorization number designated for this purpose. You can also view cataloging usage statistics broken down by Connexion Client or Browser interfaces, and by time period.

You will see the most recent 6 months of statistics displayed. You can view a different range of 6 months by selecting a different month from the drop-down menu and then clicking on update. You can see statistics back to August, 2005.

OCLC Product Services Web (PSW) is the place to go to pick up records and reports of MARC record delivery for OCLC services.

  • Log in with your OCLC authorization number
  • Select the type of records or report from the list, or select "All Records and Reports"
  • Records and reports are retained for 90 days. Be sure to pick them up before they are taken away.
  • Pick up record files for OCLC services such as Accessions Lists, WorldCat Cataloging Partners (PromptCat) records, Bibliographic Notification Service, netLibrary, WorldCat Collection Sets, etc.
  • Sometimes it takes a long time for the pages to come, so don't give up.

The NELINET online account system shows monthly usage statistics from the OCLC billing system, as well as amounts charged.

Log in with your NELINET fiscal account login to view individual invoices or use the "Product Usage" tab to get more specific invoice data:

  • Limit by time period
  • Limit by type of activity, e.g. cataloging, interlibrary loan, etc.
  • To further manupulate and/or analyze the data, click on "Printer Friendly Version," then select all of the data and copy and paste into a spreadsheet.

The OCLC Telecommunications System shows your institution's connect time use over specific periods of time by authorization number and service used.

Log in with an OCLC authorization and password and run reports of telecommunications activity. There are 3 month and 12 month reports available.

This information is also available in the invoice data in the NELINET online account system.

OCLC has been charging for telecommunications (now called "access") on a subscription basis (unlimited time, unlimited users for a flat subscription amount) for several years now. Telecommunications usage statistics are less useful than they once were, as access charges are no longer based on the actual amount of time online to OCLC.
