Stephen Spohn (Senior Consultant for Library Planning and Assessment) joined NELINET in April 2008 to lead NELINET’s initiatives to meet member-identified needs for assessment and accreditation. He is a member of NELINET’s team of expert consultants and trainers and is a perfect complement to their collective expertise with his background and interests. His library management background includes solid experience in strategic planning, project management, assessment and data analysis including overall library strategic planning, library moves and space planning, and information literacy assessment. In addition, Spohn has extensive experience evaluating, implementing and managing technologies including Web design, Web application development, databases, learning technologies and Web 2.0 with a focus on leveraging those technologies for information literacy and library service delivery.
Spohn served in various positions at the University of Maryland, George Mason University, the Atlanta University Center and Northern Essex Community College. His most recent position was as University Librarian at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, where he was charged with establishing a new library and library services at a brand new university. He holds an M.L.S. and a B.S. in microbiology from the University of Maryland.
